Hillend Loch, by Caldercruix in North Lanarkshire, is one of Scotland's premier trout fishing locations.

Established over 200 years ago as a reservoir for the Forth and Clyde Canal, the loch has become naturalised over the years and is fringed by mature woodland, moorland and meadow.

Stocked and managed by Airdrie & District Angling Club, the loch can be fished in many ways including fly, bait and spinner from the banks and wading, and fly only from boats which can be hired. The relatively shallow nature of the loch makes it ideal for fly fishing. The Loch has exceptionally good access for anglers of all abilities, with tarmac paved paths to level concrete fishing stages on the south side. There is also access to a manned wheelyboat for disabled anglers.
